Meet the Herd: Stephanie
Meet Stephanie, the Zebra Centre’s Manager of Investigative Supports. She shares with us what she loves most about her role, what motivates her everyday to show her stripes and much more!
Q: Tell us about your role as Manager of Investigative Supports.
Stephanie: My role as Manager of Investigative Supports encompasses the stages of how a file comes to Zebra and the navigation of the file throughout the investigation. Overseeing the process that starts with intake all the way through until charges are laid including supports and resources that would be best suited for each family. I also oversee the VIP program as well as our Trauma Treatment Supports program.
Q: What does a typical “day in the life” as Manager of Investigative Supports look like?
Stephanie: Well, that can look different each day, however the majority of it includes supporting our front-line staff and making sure that they are feeling supported and have the proper resources to be able to do their job. I am also the primary dog handler for DWW Cajun so that includes taking him to meet greets and interviews with our kiddos that come to the centre.
Q: What do you love most about your role?
Stephanie: There are many things I love about my role including supporting our incredibly dedicated, and hard-working staff. I love to hear and see the interaction between our staff and the families. I am constantly reminded about the compassion and empathy we have for the families and kiddos that come to the centre.
Q: What is your proudest moment at the Zebra Centre so far?
Stephanie: I wouldn’t say I have a proudest moment; however, I am very proud to say that I am the 2nd longest standing employee here at the Centre and have worked in all the roles on our Child and Youth Supports side.
Q: What motivates you to show your stripes (your why)?
Stephanie: Every time a child enters the centre upset or quiet then leaves with a big smile chatting with their caregiver is my reminder of why we do what we do. I hate that we exist as you never want to see a child come in who has been affected by abuse, however I am glad we are here so we can provide the safe space for all the children to tell their story and leave feeling supported and brave.
Q: Lastly, share a surprising or fun fact about you!
Stephanie: One of my bucket list items is do a week long trail ride in the mountains.
