Shelley Bykewich

Crown Representative

As Chief Crown Prosecutor of Edmonton Prosecutions, Shelley is a strong advocate for the role the Zebra Child Protection Centre plays in advocating for children and youth in the criminal justice system. Throughout her career, Shelley has conducted numerous prosecutions with child witnesses and victims without the support of a multidisciplinary team like Zebra Centre offers.  She has been a lawyer for 14 years, with almost all of that time being spent as a prosecutor with the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service.  During that time she has prosecuted several high profile homicides and many other complex cases. Shelley attends board meetings as a subject matter expert and liaison between the board and the Crown’s office – ensuring ideas become reality and changes are tangible within the system.
